The History of Acorn Stairlifts
Established over 20 years ago, Acorn Stairlifts is a privately owned, international company that are based in Yorkshire, Northern England.
Originally, Acorn bought, reconditioned and re-sold stairlifts, as well as providing new lifts from other UK manufacturers. Very quickly it became clear that an all-new stairlift needed to be designed and manufactured, with none of the outdated features. Out of this, the Acorn Superglide Stairlift was born, which quickly became a market leader and still it remains at the forefront of stairlift technology.
Acorn Stairlifts originally developed DC technology within the stairlift industry. Some of the many advantages of running on batteries include improved safety, smooth operation and it will still work in a power cut. This was such a success that all of Acorn’s competitors are now using the same technology!
