Stairlift Installer & Engineer (L’Derry)

We’re looking for an experienced engineer to join the team at our L’Derry showroom. You’ll install, service and repair stairlifts and other mobility products in customers’ homes across Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic of Ireland. You’ll also carry out stairlift surveys and help customers choose the right product.

We’re a local family business with more than 25 years’ experience and over 10,000 customers. Many of the people you’ll visit are older or less mobile, so a patient, friendly manner matters as much as your technical skill.

What you’ll do

  • Install, service, repair and remove stairlifts and other mobility products across Northern Ireland and the border counties
  • Sell stairlifts and other mobility products to customers
  • Carry out stairlift surveys, measuring every detail carefully
  • Prepare products fully before installation, and demonstrate each new installation to the customer
  • Handle calls to and from the office and customers
  • Take payments, including cash, and complete the paperwork
  • Take deliveries and help with general work at the showroom
  • Keep the rest of the team updated by phone and text during the day

What you’ll need

  • At least 3 years’ engineering experience
  • Experience dealing with customers by phone and face to face
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
  • A full, clean driving licence
  • Good with tools, and able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • A sympathetic approach with older customers
  • Good communication, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Able to communicate effectively in English

It would help if you have

  • Experience with stairlifts or other mobility products
  • Experience working with older people
  • Sales experience
  • Experience handling cash
  • Good knowledge of Northern Ireland’s geography

Pay and benefits

  • £29,000 to £38,000 a year basic salary
  • Extra earnings from overtime, bonuses, commission on all sales, and standby call-outs
  • Fully fitted company van with tools, parts and spares
  • Company pension
  • Private medical insurance
  • Additional leave
  • Employee discount
  • On-site parking

Hours

Full-time and permanent. Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. You’ll be on standby once a month and need to be flexible about overtime when it’s needed.

Good to know

  • We’re an equal opportunities employer.
  • All successful applicants will be subject to a security clearance check.
